The American offshoot of the long-running EDM festival, Mysteryland USA, announced the cancelation of their 2017 fest on Saturday.
In a statement, organizers credited the cancelation to “unforeseen circumstances”. The festival was set to take place at the site of the original Woodstock in Bethel, New York from June 9th to 12th. LCD Soundsystem, Major Lazer and G-Eazy were set to headline the festival with Run the Jewels, Die Antwoord, Big Gigantic and dozens of other EDM artists also scheduled to perform.
Organizers assured that ticket buyers would be receiving refunds soon along with the following statement: “Since 2014, we have strived to produce the best possible experience for our festival attendees, and are truly humbled by all of the love and support that you, the artists, the beautiful venue of Bethel Woods Center for the Arts and the Town of Bethel have shown us as we celebrated life through music, culture and art.”
No explanation or further details were given for the cancellation, nor did organizers state whether the festival would return in 2018.
