Musician Shot At SXSW

A local musician was shot during an armed robbery following a show at the music festival, SXSW.

SXSW is an annual music festival that takes place in Austin, Texas. The festival started on Friday (March 10th). The musician who was injured has been identified as Michael Sanders. Michael is the guitarist for the band Löwin. He was returning home from the A Giant Dog show on Friday night.

The Austin Chronicle have reported that three masked assailants attacked Michael near his home after he hid in the bushes trying to avoid the attackers. Michael was shot in shoulder and also had his wallet and mobile phone stolen.

Michael Sanders is expected to make a full recovery but unfortunately won’t be able to continue playing with Löwin on their last three shows at SXSW this week.

SXSW were in the news last week regarding the Italian band Soviet Soviet. They were scheduled to play a number of gigs this week at SXSW but were arrested and deported from the United States for “illegal immigration” for not having the correct documents.
