Lorde Unveils Album Release Date Along With New Song ‘Liability’

Earlier today Lorde released a new song out into the world off her upcoming album Melodrama. This moving piano ballad differs quite dramatically from ‘Green Light’, the first single off of the sophomore album. However, Lorde did state that ‘Liability’ is not meant to be a single from the album.

‘Liability’ depicts the artist’s struggle with fame and realizing the effect it can have on friendships as well as relationships. The song features very strong vocals over a soft piano tune, singing the words “The truth is, I am a toy / That people enjoy / Until all of the tricks don’t work anymore / And then they are bored of me.” Haunting lyrics accompanying the musicians realizations of the reality of fame and the lasting effects it brings with it.

Shortly after dropping the new song Lorde also announced the official release date of Melodrama, June 16th.

This means we are are only a little over 3 months away from the follow up album to Lorde’s debut album Pure Heroine, something that has been 4 years in the making!
