Some interesting music news as Drake has offered his support for Chance the Rapper in his bid to run for mayor of Chicago in 2019.
Chance has yet to officially announce that he is running to replace Rahm Emanuel in 2019, but his fans are hoping that he does. They have even started a petition on chano4mayor.com, which was launched on Sunday (April 2nd). They have said, “Hey Chance, We think you’d be a great mayor. We love your music – we’ve been following your career from the first 10 days. We also love the work you’ve done to give back to the city that raised you. You represent Chicago on the world stage and you do us proud… We think if you ran, you would win. And if you won, you would do a good ass job. … You’d send a message that Chicago is ready for a new generation of leadership,”
Now Drake has given his support to Chance by saying “Yes I do” when he was asked by TMZ if he thought Chance would make a good mayor.
Chance then took to his twitter to thank Drank with this tweet…
Chance has recently donated $1 million to public schools in Chicago, which is why the people who are organising this campaign feel so strongly that Chance the Rapper will be a good mayor. Other high profile names such as Kanye West and the Chicago Bulls donated towards the cause.
Chance has also recently stated that he is looking for a PA (Personal Assistant) saying, “I know ‘intern’ has a negative connotation but the job I’m looking to fill doesn’t really have an official title yet. But it is a ‘job’. Pitch yourself.”
